Sustainable Features of Pringle Creek Community


LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a third party rating group who ensures homes, community buildings and businesses are energy efficient, built with materials that use resources wisely (recycled, reused, sustainably managed), are healthy (reduce or avoid toxic chemicals) and built in a manner that preserves the environment and reduces waste.
All PCC homes are certified LEED gold or platinum, ensuring they are built to the highest level of green-building standards resulting in a comfortable, healthy home. Bottom line – a healthy home that is inexpensive to operate and maintain.

Solar

Pringle Creek is committed to a Net Zero neighborhood. The community is located on a south facing slope which allows for homes and property facilities to capture solar power, producing 100% of their solar needs. This includes the Painters Hall, café and events venue.   

Paving

The streets within Pringle Creek are designed to filter 90% of the rainwater into the soil. This green system allows natural aquifers to replenish and foster healthy vegetation. In addition, the streets are narrower which required less material to pave and has an added benefit of slowing traffic through our community. This green street makes the community a healthy and safe place to live. 

Green Roof

Pringle Creek has implemented a green roof on two of its facilities. The green roof is a planted rooftop that sits on top of a waterproof membrane. The vegetation acts as a barrier to insulate the building during extreme hot and cold days, reducing energy impact on the community. An added benefit of the green roof is that it also helps with irrigation. Water shed is first absorbed within the living roof and second through irrigation management to help water the community vegetation.

Rainwater Harvesting

Rainwater is collected to irrigate gardens located in the community. Painters Hall utilizes rainwater for toilets reducing the consumption of the community.

Walkable + Bikeable

The community is designed with a network of trails and pathways that connect open spaces and parks throughout the neighborhood. These paths further extend to adjoining neighborhoods creating a connected community.  Thought was invested in creating an experience with inspiring places to see in an effort to provide a healthy community.

Green Spaces

Green spaces were preserved for a more liveable community.  In development of Pringle Creek,  more than 80% of existing trees during the development of the property.   In addition, the onsite creek is salmon safe and additional steps were taken to protect and enhance the local wetlands.
